Ziggy: the inflatable starfish-shaped guitar

Ziggy is a starfish-shaped guitar. Not a traditional musical instrument, but an object created to push the boundaries between design and music. Born from the collaboration between French designers Marianna Ladreyt and Jacques Averna, Ziggy is the first instrument created by Ladreyt, developed through a creative dialogue built on trust and design freedom. The result is a project that combines an experimental and playful approach.

The design is built around an aquatic imaginary, with glossy surfaces and soft shapes that recall the world of inflatable objects and seaside aesthetics. The starfish silhouette becomes a functional structure, capable of turning an iconic element into a playable instrument. The result is deliberately hybrid: halfway between sculpture, product, and pop object.

Ziggy was first presented and played last September during Plastic Glamping, an exhibition created in collaboration with Intex France that explored the language of synthetic leisure. Within this context, the guitar fits perfectly as an object that reflects on materials, imaginaries, and contemporary culture. Ziggy therefore opens up a broader reflection on the role of objects: instruments that can become autonomous expressive forms, capable of existing beyond their primary function.
