With Anonymous Club, the Chuck 70 becomes armor for the city

Converse and Anonymous Club team up once again with Subculture as Armor, a project by Shayne Oliver that transforms the Chuck 70 into an entirely new shoe. The iconic silhouette is reimagined through an almost sculptural approach, where underground aesthetics and function merge. The rubber-coated canvas upper recalls technical outerwear, designed to withstand the elements while also conveying protection. It’s not just a shoe, it’s armor.

The construction details, usually hidden, rise to the surface. Heat-welded seams trace the sneaker’s structure like architectural lines, while the heat-embossed logos become essential graphic marks. It is a language that places the process at the center. The imagery draws from the club subcultures of the 1990s, suspended between DIY spirit and resilience. The textures evoke “repaired” materials such as duct tape and electrical tape, while the velcro straps on the forefoot and ankle introduce an idea of constant adaptability. Here, durability becomes an aesthetic.

The slightly latex-like finish reinforces the “armor” effect, while the layered construction — a shoe within a shoe — with an inner sock keeps comfort and structure in balance. Two lace options, round with rubberized tips or flat co-branded laces, allow for adjustable styling, while the Black and Industrial Gray colorways evoke an industrial imaginary. Completing the design are a mélange jersey lining and a co-branded insole.

For Oliver, already the founder of Hood By Air, Anonymous Club is a space for experimentation where familiar forms are continuously remixed. Available from March 17, 2026 on Converse.com, on SNKRS in North America, and through selected retailers, this Chuck 70 does not look to the past: it uses it as material to be rebuilt.
