10 videos you need in your life this week
Your guide to the videos we can't stop watching. Come in.
Jamila Woods – BALDWIN
Some magic things happen in the Jamila Woods’ new video: the students move through an outside wall, handclaps turn into fireworks.
The Vincent Martell-directed visual was inspired by Harry Potter and imagines a Black Hogwarts School in Chicago.
Joy Crookes – Hurts
Joy Crookes starts her Hurts video with a séance and a scary thunder. But, despite this Joy Crookes’ voice is so reassuring that we are not afraid even for a moment (not even when she destroys porcelain dolls and bouquets of roses with a baseball bat). Joy said: “The video is inspired by the Frank Ocean song ‘Nights’ and the specific lyric in it “Did you call me from a seance? You are from a past life.”
See Maw – Basta feste
I know it’s probably like the last thing you want to hear on Friday… but at least the video is so funny!
LA NIÑA – CROCE
An unsaid goodbye weighs like a cross. LA NIÑA carries it on her back walking along a solitary and solemn Way of the Cross and spitting out all her agonies in the Neapolitan language. Listen to them and pray for her.
Tierra Whack – CLONES
The one and only Tierra Whack.
boy pablo & Jimi Somewhere – Never Cared
“Last summer Fabio invited a bunch of friends to come hang out at his house outside of Bergen. There weren’t any instruments except for my guitar but Fabio found this toy Casio keyboard that he had since he was a kid so we started to play around with that. I [Pablo] locked down the chords quick on the keyboard and started working on the beat with [frequent Jimi Somewhere producer] Milo, while Jimi already had the hook melody ready. Everything fell together very fast and organic. The track was finished by the end of the weekend. We even shot the video that same day with the Also Known As crew who do a lot of our tour photography. It’s just one of those moments that came together to make something special“.
J. Balvin, Bad Bunny – QUE PRETENDES
J Balvin and Bad Bunny have teamed up for a surprise album called OASIS out today. The LP arrives with a visual for the lead single QUE PRETENDES filled with animalier patterns.
ScHoolboy Q – Dangerous (feat Kid Cudi)
A gory video with a strong message:
“An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind“
Idles: NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert
These guys rock!
Friendly Fires – Silhouettes
We sway like the flowers in this glitched visual to the rhythm of this summer hit.
