Four weeks ago, Alma Haser (@almahaser) announced a new puzzle series on her Instagram profile titled Unlearning AI. This project encourages reflection on the nature of artificial intelligence and its visual implications. The series consists of 500-piece puzzles to be assembled individually, with no straightforward solutions. As the artist herself highlights, “I don’t make things easy.”

Unlearning AI takes an analog approach to artificial intelligence, distorting images and emphasizing manipulations and imperfections rather than concealing them. While AI evolves to create increasingly polished and flawless visuals, altering our perception of reality, this series flips the perspective, exposing the flaws and artificial construction behind digital portraits.
Each puzzle is created by combining two 2000-piece puzzles, resulting in a final 500-piece artwork. The edges of the images are deliberately left visible, presenting fragmented and distorted identities, almost like visual impostors.
