The interior designer and digital artist Andrés Reisinger, known for his strictly pink virtual installations, blurs the boundaries between digital and physical by presenting his piece “Take Over Miami” in Miami. It marks the first physical translation of his classic digital works that have dressed virtual buildings worldwide in pink, from Tokyo to Rome, Amsterdam to London. Specifically, Reisinger brings one of the images from the “Take Over” series — set in Miami in early 2023 — to life by draping the Fendi showroom with a pink cloth. This public installation, in collaboration with the Miami Design District, is part of the Miami Art Week and will be on display until December 10th. His imagery, previously confined to the virtual world of social media, now becomes physical, challenging viewers to ponder the concept of reality. According to Reisinger, “anything that constitutes a human experience is real, whether it exists in the digital or physical world.” But now that the audience is physically faced with what they’ve only been accustomed to seeing digitally, what will they think?
Undoubtedly, there’s a collision between the world of imagination and the real one. The Take Over series, a true experiment in the power of the digital in democratizing art, becomes physical to provoke questions in the audience. Not only about the concept of reality but also about the dialogue between corporeal and virtual dimensions. In other words, it’s a comparison between the real landscape and the viewer’s internal landscapes, reflecting on the ever-changing and fluid nature of reality. In Reisinger’s own words: “I conceived the installation to transcend mere visuality and become a confrontation, a mirror reflecting the viewer’s mutable internal landscapes. I delved into an ongoing exploration of the fluctuating boundaries between consciousness and the unconscious, a dialogue that finds echoes in art. The installation emerges as a synthesis of practices, a conduit for transformative experiences.” At this point, the question arises: will it also happen in other cities from his Take Over series? What will be the next one?
