Balenciaga celebrates Pride Month 2021 with a new capsule collection that aims to give more visibility to the LGBTQIA+ world.

The collection consists of tees, baseball caps, hoodies, crewnecks, belts, bras, thongs and jockstraps.
Tees, hoodies and crewnecks have been declined in two different styles: the first has a varsity style writing “GAY PRIDE BALENCIAGA 2021”, while the other sees the presence of only the word “GAY” and a rainbow flag symbol of the fight against all kinds of discrimination. The latter is a distinctive feature of the collection: it also stands out on underwear – both men’s and women’s – on socks, belts and purses with faux fur shoulder strap.

Balenciaga will donate 15% of the proceeds obtained from the sale of this collection to the Trevor Project, which was founded in 1998 and has been carrying out its mission to end suicides of LGBTQ youth since day one. This task of responsibility also continues to this day through 24/7 support and intervention programs, as well as constantly contributing to the support of the LGBTQ community by defending their rights.

“I’m gay. I grew up in a society where I couldn’t have worn that, and there are places in the world that you cannot today. It’s important to push through against homophobia. I’m not someone who goes out in the street and shouts. But this is the political fashion activism I can do”, Balenciaga creative director Demna Gvasalia said about the collection.
