Yinka Ilori has done another one of his, the Anglo-Nigerian designer has brought the basketball court in Canary Wharf, London’s financial district, to life.
The field is small, you can play only 3vs3 with a single basket, is located in a small lot of Bank Street Park. But despite the small size the artist has managed to create something unique while remaining faithful and consistent with his style.
As she had done previously in Lille, at the Colorama Skatepark, we told you about it here, Yinka Ilori filled the field with her usual vibrant and bright colors. This time she also added a phrase, around the edge of the field in bold, capital letters, that reads like this, “Be the best you can be”.
A reminder that the artist wanted to include to inject everyone, not just the players, with a little positivity and hope.
All you can do is give your best, I think that applies to everything we do in our lives.

But the special feature of the Yinka Ilori court is definitely the flooring. Unlike the parquet or concrete floors typically used for basketball, the court has been covered with 3D printed polypropylene tiles produced by the company OnCourt. This will allow the court to not wear out in a short amount of time and to withstand almost any type of weather.
Now that you know about it, if you’re in London you can’t miss Yinka Ilori’s latest creation, which has been able, as always, to create something unique. Here are all the photos.
