The latest creation of the Anglo-Nigerian artist Yinka Ilori is located in Lille, where he managed to give new life to the Skatepark Colorama inside the cultural centre La Condition Publique with its vibrant and colourful style.

The indoor skate park was built in the last phase of the development of La Condition Publique, a cultural institution located inside an early 20th-century warehouse, which was renovated by architect Patrick Bouchain in 2004.

“Some of the colours and patterns were inspired by the facade of La Condition Publique because it is important for me to bring some of these details into the skatepark”.

Yinka Ilori used a very delicate but high-impact color palette. This was fundamental to transform the former exhibition hall and give the skate park a strong identity and make the space even brighter and more pleasant for skateboarding.

Inside the park, the Nigerian artist has combined numerous bright colors with pastel shades. The brick walls have been painted in pink and peach with red, green and orange friezes.
While the columns and obstacles are sun yellow, green, red, fuchsia and blue. For the designer, the colors reflect the joy and adrenaline that skaters will feel when they use their new space.
