Illusion, color and perspective are the core principles of the work of Ben Thomas.
Those that look like bright illustrations instead are an accurate and true representation of urban spaces, and those that look like miniature models are instead broad dimensional areas.
The Australian photographer and filmmaker travels around the world transforming architectural elements in pure art.
His collection of art called “Cityshirinker” (2007), it’s one of the first series created with a tilt-shift effect and it represents Melbourne in a deceptive game of perspective. The same happens for the capital city of Japan in “Tiny Tokyo” (2014).
Surely Ben does not lack of experimentation in his work, in 2012 he created “Accession“, with the technique of “Mirroring“.
The usage of colors and lack of shades were predominant in his last creations. The series “Chroma I-II-III” are based on the extreme processing of colors.
The final result? Hypnotic
