The BIC© pen is one of those design objects we all own and feel attached to. The technology behind the BIC® Cristal® — launched on the market over 75 years ago — transformed the world of stationery and is still today the number one ballpoint pen in the world. It comes as no surprise, then, that Seletti, a brand that has always been committed to bringing iconic objects into our homes in a new guise, would turn its attention to the most popular pen of all time.
During Maison&Objet, Seletti and BIC© joined forces to present Seletti Papeterie, a sort of stationery shop where it is possible to find only the brand-new BIC© Lamp.

Designed by Mario Paroli, the lamp faithfully reproduces the BIC© Cristal at a 12:1 scale, reimagined as a floor lamp, pendant lamp, or wall light, and available in the three most recognizable colorways: black, blue, and red.
This collaboration marks the conclusion of the celebrations for the 75th anniversary of the BIC© Cristal, paying tribute to the company’s origins, founded just outside Paris thanks to the dedication and ingenuity of Marcel Bich.

“At Seletti we have always played with the concept of design tied to memory, placing people’s personal memories at the center of the objects we create. With the BIC© Lamp, we transform a universally and instantly recognizable object, present in everyone’s memory, into something completely new.” said Stefano Seletti.
We can say that the goal has been fully achieved: looking at the photos and videos that are already going viral, it’s impossible not to think this is the perfect product for all of us — for those who write exclusively in black, for those who have always chosen red for titles, for those who always had a bunch of BIC© pens in their pencil case but never with a cap, and for those who, instead, compulsively bite the cap to relieve stress.
