Daring geometries in Mauritius by Camille Walala
Pattern designer Camille Walala has recently completed the Salt of Palmar Hotel in Mauritius, a balance between art and nature.
Camille Walala, known for her optical prints, has completed her work at the Salt of Palmar boutique hotel in Mauritius. The blue of the sea blends perfectly with the bright colors that distinguish the structure like yellow, orange and turquoise. The building features 59 guest suites, a restaurant and a spa decorated with monochromatic patterns and tropical shades.
The Salt of Palmar is the first of a series of hotels with the Salt brand that the Lux Group plans to open in the coming months, such as those expected in Turkey and China. Julia Jomaa, the art director of the project said:
“I was blown away with how many vibrant and bold colours you find around the island. From the emerald green of the plants to the ever-changing colours of the sky, I wanted to marry these warm and natural tones to my signature pop colours”.
The details and finishes were made with the help of local creative specialists in the craft of ceramics and weaving baskets that produced, especially for the hotel, pieces of furniture such as circular pendant lamps.
