Captive State is the new sci-fi thriller by British director and producer Rupert Wyatt. Chicago has been governed for a decade by alien military forces, some of its citizens try to wrestle free of such a morbid control. Not everyone, however, is against the “occupation”. Some prefer to serve the protector government which, as can be seen from the trailer, has managed to restore safety, order and bring jobs to an apparently dying city. This movie’s strength is an Orwellian scenario almost impartially depicted. The lives of different characters intertwine, giving the viewer a 360degrees vision of all that happens in such a distant and (hopefully) unlikely future. This interesting narration, however, is reinforced by an incredible photographic, scenographic and special effects work. The trailer scenes reveal a plastic, almost surgical city in which the inhabitants are replaceable as insects. The question: is such a result worth the effort.

The cast features numerous well-known faces, including John Goodman (The Big Lebowski, Argo, 10 Cloverfield Lane, and many other masterpieces), Vera Farmiga (Beates Motel and the Departed) and Cleveland rapper Machine Gun Kelly.

Captive State will see the light in American theaters on March the 2nd.
