Casa Xólotl was a decaying property that the firm Arquitectónico Point of Mérida has been dramatically restyled into a small corner of paradise in the Yucatan Peninsula, which connects the land with water. And that’s how the backyard of the house has been transformed drastically into a pool, with a walled patio that connects the living spaces to two small and two large bedrooms.
The pool water becomes the link between the various environments, to connect them and make a unique experience live. To make the waterfall an already existing cistern was dug, which can be accessed through the main entrance door. But it is “the flooded room that becomes the visual focus from the entrance”, as the architects explain:
“The flooded room becomes… a space in which the interior-exterior limits blur and fuse.”
The attention to detail, present throughout the house, helps to give the final effect to ensure a dreamlike holiday.
