Relive the celebrations for the first year of UNIQLO in Milan

From September 15 to October 14, 2020, UNIQLO opened its doors to the brand’s fans to celebrate together the first year of the Milanese flagship store in Piazza Cordusio.
Throughout the month, creative workshops were held by artists and designers strongly linked to Japanese culture, its history, and its values.

The celebration was opened by the plasticine and motion artist Stefano Colferai, who, during his workshop, taught the participants how to work with plasticine with an ad hoc kit created for the occasion.
Together they gave life to colorful sculptures related to the world of Japanese cuisine.

The second workshop was held by the exceptional teacher Erasmo Ciufo who, for several hours and several participants, made available his experience in the development and creation of merchandise and collections, his bread and butter.
During the workshop, some UNIQLO garments were customized thanks to pins and patches made by the designer only and exclusively for this occasion.

After Erasmo, it was the turn of Tomoko Nagao, the Japanese artist who thought of a workshop open also to children, during which she taught all participants the art of the stencil.
The result was t-shirts decorated with graphics she created, mixing, as always, icons of the past with modern elements.

The last workshop, the one that closed the long month of celebrations dedicated to the flagship store, was the one with the master of Origami Uroš Mihić.
The designer held a workshop dedicated to ancient techniques of paper processing, during which origami, inspired by the world of animals, were created.

All the artists involved in UNIQLO also made Limited Edition t-shirts, only for this special occasion and only for the workshop participants.

If you are among those who could not take part in the four workshops, you can try to replicate the artwork they created thanks to the video “Tips and Tricks” that they made for you and that you can find here.
