From Saturday 17th to Sunday 25th July, the Roman district of San Lorenzo, undoubtedly one of the most characteristic and lively areas of the capital, will be the setting for the first edition of Charta.
Charta, winner of Strategia Fotografia 2020 – an intervention supported by the General Directorate for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture -, is a photo-book festival, entirely dedicated to photographic books and independent publishing, conceived and realized by Yogurt Magazine.

For this first edition, the theme “Demons” has been chosen: the 100 photo-books that will participate in the festival will decline the theme by analyzing and going through all the possible declinations that can be closely linked to the human condition, to territorial problems or, even, to socio-cultural ones.
In addition to the exhibition of 100 photo-books, the week of the festival will be marked by a full program of events ranging from editorial previews to workshops, from installations to portfolio readings with publishers such as Mack Books, Overlapse, Postcart Edizioni, Matèria Gallery, Witty Books, PH Museum.
But that’s not all. In view of Charta, it’s already possible to participate in the Charta Dummy Awards, a real open call for anyone who wants to send in an unpublished photographic book. Among those who send in their work, no later than July 9, some will have the possibility of exhibiting it during the festival, while only one will see it published.
Visit Charta’s website to discover the guests at the festival and get more info on how to participate in the Charta Dummy Awards.
