The Chinese firm Architectural Design & Research Institute of Zhejiang University has completed a 526-meter-long glazed bridge in the scenic area of the Three Gorges of Huangchuan in southern China.

“Through the fusion of the structure in the natural environment and the use of innovative construction methods, the design team has achieved the perfect integration between nature and the artificial”.

The structure, which spans the Lianjiang River in Guangdong Province, has been officially recognized by the Guinness Book of Records as the longest glazed bridge in the world.
The bridge has a capacity of 500 people and consists of three layers of tempered laminated glass 4.5cm thick.

The bridge connects two sides of a gorge 201 meters above the river below, 8.8 meters wide, two bright red towers mark its limits.
It is designed to be completely transparent to allow tourists but not the faint-hearted to look down.
