What would happen if the past were as unstable as the present? If everything is going to change? What will be left?
All this reflection is at the base of the photomontages series by Nantes photographer Alban Lécuyer, Downtown Corrida.
Inspired by American realism, Alban gives life in each of his shots to an event of destruction of the past, represented by the collapse of ancient palaces, observed by curious spectators, against the background of the modern neighborhoods instability.
The photographer compares what happened to a bullfighting event, thus motivating the name of his photographic series: the waiting for the animal to be hit to death is the waiting for the palace to collapse and when this happens, the dead body of the bull is nothing more than the ashes and rubble of what remains of the past.
While everything collapses, Alban asks himself, how long before everything that surrounds us will change? What type of houses will be preserved or destroyed?
