When we first came across Fintan Magee’s work a little over six years ago, we were struck by the realism of his creations. Back then, the subjects of his murals were always people, depicted with meticulous attention to detail and realism.

Today, Fintan Magee is one of the most renowned street artists on the international scene, but his style has undergone a slight transformation. The artist continues to take on large walls, often the entire facades of buildings. Human figures remain central to his artistic exploration, but now something has changed.

Magee has moved away from his earlier realism and seems to place his characters behind frosted glass. What we see are the shapes, the outlines of people, but their faces are always obscured and indistinct.
The effect, viewed from afar, deceives the observer, while viewing his walls up close reveals the immense work and study of light and shadow involved in creating the effects of frosted glass.
