Gangirboy and the strange visual associations between pop culture and art

Graphic designer Gangirboy entertains his Instagram followers with digital collages that blend art history and contemporary culture.

We’ve seen projects like Gangirboy‘s before, to name a few we can mention Untitled Save or Paste in Place, but they always manage to attract our attention.

Some people will say that I’m rubbish, or that art is something else, but following the theories that say that the other is the mirror of the society in which it was born, maybe this is the one that represents us best.

The works that Gangirboy shares on his Instagram profile are digital collages that mix elements of the pop culture that is part of our daily lives, such as movies, sports, music or social media, with classical and modern art.

After all, as in the 18th century, neoclassical artists rediscovered and revisited the masterpieces of Greco-Roman art, it seems that today’s artists and designers find their inspiration in the art of one or two centuries ago.

Do we like Gangirboy’s digital collages and do they make us smile, do you?
