Los Angeles-based artist Jihan Zencirli aka Geronimo has created an immense installation in collaboration with the New York City Ballet, within the Lincoln Center in Manhattan, its historic home.

The installation, the artist’s largest to date, is made up of thousands of compostable and biodegradable balloons that will remain within the location from January 26th to February 24th, a period during which the most famous dance company in the world will perform in two special performances.

“Balloons are only for a moment. They disappear and vanish. I am rooted in my work is this reminder that you will only have this experience at this particular time. You’re here, you’re seeing it, you’re alive.”

The visual and performance artist of Turkish origin continues her journey in creating physical and emotional spaces able to break the monotony and normality of days, uniting more people in the same place and giving them unexpected moments of joy.

Precisely for this reason, her installations are often judged ephemeral, despite the fact that the sense is one of the simplest and most enjoyable, democratic both in form and in the places where she decides to create them.
