In the Me Too era you can’t help but take a stand, either for or against, you can’t stand in the middle and much less you can’t abstain. The last to take a position was Gillette, one of the most popular shaving product brands, with the spot We Believe: The Best Men Can Be.

The historic slogan The Best A Man Can Get has undergone the passage of time and the changes in society, it is no longer important what you can get, but what kind of person to be.

The two-minute video starts by showing examples of sexism in movies, workplaces, kids, cartoons, including news clips about the #MeToo movement. But then something changes because not all men are like that and then the spot shows the best of them, remembering that there are those who defend women, those who are against violence.

It’s a touching and high-impact advertisement and as such has not gone unnoticed, collecting, in addition to applause, also many criticisms. We also like and like the position taken by Gillette.

We believe in the best in men: to say the right thing, to act the right way. Some already are in ways big and small. But some is not enough. Because the boys watching today will be the men of tomorrow.”
