No budget, no equipment, no exceptional cast.
Netflix today launches HOMEMADE, a series of short films shot by acclaimed directors around the world during the lockdown period of the past few months.
The project, produced by The Apartment Pictures and Fabula, was created to celebrate the cinema and the inexhaustible creativity of those who work with the seventh art, men, and women who have managed to channel their energies even during a global pandemic, demonstrating, just as the production companies wanted, that you don’t always need big resources to create something new and powerful.
The directors who took part in this initiative are some of the most acclaimed and awarded in recent years and, directly from their homes, have told intimate and personal but also fantasy stories.
Among them also Paolo Sorrentino who told Homemade with these words:
Homemade was a great challenge for those who want to narrate. Finding a story and characters in one’s own home, and without anything else available, made me feel like when I dreamed of doing this job as a kid.
While you’re waiting for June 30, when the shorts will be released on Netflix globally, check out the trailer here and find out the names of the directors who participated.
