House inside a rock, the dream project by Amey Kandalgaonkar
It's still just a 3D project of Amey Kandalgaonkar's House inside a rock, but it's already driving everyone crazy. Discover it here!
Think of one of those monumental rocks lying alone in the middle of deserts and desolate plains, whose irregular shape has been shaped by years of wind and rain. Here, now think about fitting in exactly in the center of a modern house with clean and minimal lines. Architect Amey Kandalgaonkar has transformed all these thoughts into a 3D project that gives us hope that sooner or later someone will have the courage, or the ability, to really realize it.
It’s called House inside a rock and it’s inspired by the tombs of Mada’in Saleh in Saudi Arabia. This archaeological site, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is famous for its tome literally carved into the rock.
Amey’s is a contemporary, almost futuristic reinterpretation of a house that hides in stone and reveals only parts of it. Only by looking at it from above can one understand the size and the real surface of the House inside a rock.
