A real leap into the past, a nostalgic dive into the years between the late ’80s and early ’90s thanks to HUF and its collaboration with one of the highest-grossing video games of all time, Street Fighter.
Who has more than 30 years can not fail to remember the entire afternoons in front of the coin-op of the fighting game officially released in 1987 by Capcom accompanied by the metallic noise of tokens.
Inspired by the manga written by Ikki Kajiwara and illustrated by Jiro Tsunoda and Jōya Kagemaru, Karate Baka Ichidai, Street Fighter reached the pinnacle of success in 1991 with the release of the second chapter, Street Fighter II, from which HUF has drawn the most inspiration for this collaboration because this last version has entered by right in the collective imagination of millions of kids in the ’90s.
A live action film version was also made of it in 1994 directed by Steven E. de Souza and starring Jean-Claude Van Damme.
HUF worked closely with Capcom, drawing heavily from the Japanese gaming company’s archives and focusing on Street Fighter II‘s most important characters and most iconic environments.
The capsule includes resort shirts dedicated to the various Stages and the Chun-li character, the Arcade hoodie, the Sake Bomb sake set and a series of skateboards.
The HUF x Street Fighter collection is available at www.blackshop.com and select retailers.
