We have good news for you, despite the fact that museums are all closed, almost shuttered everywhere in the world, the initiatives do not stop. The Musée du Louvre has in fact decided to set up its halls online, launching the new portal, a huge platform full of art and culture that contains almost half a million works.
Simpler, more visual, more immersive.
The Louvre is therefore dusting off all of its beautiful collections, even the lesser-known ones, allowing all enthusiasts to take a virtual tour of the museum’s eight encroaching departments.
Now the Louvre is letting its treasures, even the lesser-known ones, out of confinement. For the first time, everyone will be able to have free access to the works preserved in the museum, both those on display in the building and those on loan or in storage.
You can choose two different ways to visit the museum, the first one is more immediate if you are only moved by a simple curiosity and are not looking for something in particular, it starts here. Three sections, “visiter, découvir, en ce moment” to move even from home in the wings of the beautiful museum, from room to room with photos and videos that tell highlights and curiosities.
The second one starts here and works like a real search engine. All you have to do is enter the name of the work or artist you’re looking for, and in no time you’ll be able to access and consult the 480,000 files with technical data and bibliographical references, meticulously compiled by museum personnel.
A special initiative, one of a kind, the extraordinary cultural heritage of the Louvre is now all just a click away. So from home you are now ready to travel with your imagination and return to contemplate all the beauty of the museum in a click while waiting to see them live.
