It was the night of September 2, 2018, when a fire that started in Boa Vista Park in Rio de Janeiro, for reasons still unknown, made its way to the National Museum of Brazil, destroying almost the entire collection. In fact, according to estimates, the museum seems to have lost just over 92% of its 20 million artifacts and relics, including Luiza, the oldest skeleton found in the American continent.

A dramatic event that has destroyed years of work and, above all, millennia of history.

But, although thousands of finds are actually lost, technology has managed to save the memory. Thanks to the Museum View project, which allows you to visit virtually the most important museums in the world, Google has made available to everyone the tour of the National Museum of Brazil.

Inside Brazil’s Museu Nacional is just a small taste of what Google has to offer us and to see the entire digital archive of the museum you just need to go to the Museum View website.
