“Beyond the sea”, Millo’s new artwork

“Beyond the sea”, Millo’s new artwork

Emanuele D'Angelo · 4 days ago · Art

After being in Sardinia a few weeks ago, we talked about it here, now Millo is back in Puglia, precisely in Monopoli, where he took part in the PhEST festival and inspired by the official slogan “See Beyond the Sea” he made the work “Beyond the sea”.

The theme of the mural is the tropicalization of the Mediterranean Sea, the process of settlement of fish and tree species from tropical or sub-tropical areas previously alien to this sea.
The tropicalisation of the Mediterranean should not be considered as something apocalyptic or irreversible: we can make a huge difference by consciously acting towards our environment.

“This wall focuse is the tropicalization of the Mediterranean sea.
It’s typical of marine environments to change in relation to climatic fluctuations, but the combination of this change with other ecological stressors such as pollution, eutrophication, anoxia, fishing pressure, the acidification of the oceans let us think that the new species arriving in the seas are not the main problem but that there won’t be any species left at all in the future if we continue to ignore how strong is our impact on the ecosystem.”

Always consistent with his style, we can admire his soft white lines surrounded only by black ones and one of his classic characters next to tropical fish soaking inside the city.

PLACE TO BE, a musical journey through Italy

PLACE TO BE, a musical journey through Italy

Giulia Guido · 4 days ago · Art, Music

The hilly landscapes of Northern Italy, the characteristic medieval villages of the Centre and the archaeological sites of the South merge with the music of some of the most interesting artists of the Italian scene thanks to an exclusive initiative.
PLACE TO BE, this is the name of the project signed IMF (Italian Music Festivals) and promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and created to support Italian creative and cultural enterprises following the health emergency.

For PLACE TO BE three places have been chosen to represent all the beauty and variety of our country’s landscape and will host some of the best Italian artists of the contemporary and avant-garde music scene. So, in September the Nu Guinea will perform in the magical atmosphere of the vineyards of Monferrato, the music of Clap! Clap! and Kety Fusco will resonate in the streets of the medieval village of Civita di Bagnoregio and, finally, the Calibro 35 will give their best among the archaeological excavations of Egnazia in Puglia.

A unique journey that combines the love for the territory and the passion for music and that, in order to comply with all safety regulations, can be followed exclusively in streaming on the DICE TV platform.

TvBoy lands in Catania with new artwork about Sant’Agata

TvBoy lands in Catania with new artwork about Sant’Agata

Emanuele D'Angelo · 3 days ago · Art

The street artist TvBoy landed in Sicily tonight and left his mark with new works in the heart of the historic center of Catania.

A return to Sicily for the artist, just a few months ago he was in Palermo with a beautiful artwork dedicated to the magistrate Giovanni Falcone.
Now he is back, but on the opposite side, in the heart of baroque Catania, in the famous fish market “A piscaria”, with an artwork dedicated to the saint and mistress of the city Sant’Agata.

“The feast of St. Agatha is among the first three religious holidays in the world: a celebration of enormous historical and artistic value, which we hope will soon be consecrated to UNESCO heritage.
This is my homage to a beautiful city and to the Patroness of my two lands, Sicily and Spain.”

The feast of St. Agatha is the most important religious feast of the city of Catania. It is one of the most popular Catholic religious festivals, precisely because of the number of people it involves and attracts.
It takes place every year from 3 to 5 February, 12 February and 17 August. The festivity of February is linked to the martyrdom of the saint from Catania, while the dates in August remind us of the return to Catania of her remains.

TvBoy also did not leave out any details, the Saint, in addition to having placed the logo of Calcio Catania at the height of her heart, holds in her hand one of the typical sweets of the festival “le cassatelle di sant’Agata” commonly called “minnuzzi ri sant’Àjta“.

A special artwork, immersed in the baroque of the Sicilian city, here are the photos!

“Kintsugi Court”, the gold field redeveloped by Victor Solomon

“Kintsugi Court”, the gold field redeveloped by Victor Solomon

Emanuele D'Angelo · 3 days ago · Art

To celebrate the resumption of the NBA, artist Victor Solomon transformed a dilapidated basketball court into a true work of art using the traditional Japanese technique of Kintsugi, centuries-old art of fixing broken ceramics with gold. In fact, after the redevelopment work, the court was named “Kintsugi Court“.

Located in South Los Angeles, Solomon and his team filled the camp’s flashy cracks with a special tree sap lacquer dusted with gold dust.

Sport can entertain, inspire and distract, but most of all, sport can help us heal.

It is no coincidence that the artist chose the ancient Japanese technique to upgrade the old camp with gold, to accentuate healing as a formative part of his journey.

But Solomon and his team didn’t just repair the ground, they also repainted the surface of the camp and replaced the boards and circles of the camp. Below are photos of this masterpiece signed by Victor Solomon and his special team.
