Invasivo, the photographic project by Samm Escobar
The impact of man on nature takes a new and surreal form in the photographic project "Invasivo" by Samm Escobar.
For decades tourism in Mexico has concentrated on the coasts overlooking the Gulf of Mexico, but in recent years even the part of the Pacific Ocean is experiencing rediscovery. Tourism, however, does not always bring with it positive changes, for example, the influx of a large number of people can end up ruining and spoiling places lost and where nature still dominates the rest. It is precisely the theme of man’s impact on the environment that is at the center of Samm Escobar‘s artistic research and his photographic project Invasivo.
Samm Escobar’s shots show the beaches of Puerto Escondido, real hidden paradises, contaminated by huge luminous signs with the words “Motel”, “Park”, “Bar”, digitally added.
The photographer wants to raise public awareness of the climate crisis, environmental pollution, problems that if not addressed in a short time will have irreversible effects on our planet.
