Collectible design inspired by technical outfit

Giorgia Massari
Jean-Baptiste Durand

The inspiration comes from the world of running and, more specifically, from technical outfits. Designer Jean-Baptiste Durand‘s chairs, in neon colors and with inserts such as carabiners and ropes, wink at the outdoor world but also at the world of rallying. We are talking in particular about the two Spring Chairs – one and two – which, while they look almost like race car seats, are true collector’s items. In fact, these two pieces were presented by the designer during the Collectible Fair in Brussels last March, among many extravagant and innovative pieces. Undoubtedly, Durant’s chairs are curious, and thanks to their dynamic aesthetics they intercept an audience outside the usual design audience. In short, this urban idiom that doesn’t take itself too seriously, but looks carefully at ready-made and new trends, we like it a lot, albeit in its own slightly weird way. What do you guys think?
