Joseph Lee’s three-dimensional pop portraits

Joseph Lee’s three-dimensional pop portraits

Claudia Fuggetti · 3 years ago · Art

Joseph Lee, an artist and actor from Los Angeles, paints portraits made up of colorful and thick brushstrokes, which make his paintings three-dimensional works. The details and subjects facial expressions are hidden by exuberant colors, real protagonists of his pop universe that constitutes the artist’s style; sometimes the abstract profiles reveal the detail of a part of the body, all this generates a sort of mysterious title.

Although not having a face, his characters manage to convey emotions and suggestions.
You can learn more about his work by taking a look at the video below and his website.

Short video for Breakfast – OOZE, the dramatic story of a young lift

Short video for Breakfast – OOZE, the dramatic story of a young lift

Giulia Guido · 3 years ago · Art

Kilian Vilim is a young Swiss illustrator and animator and last year he presented the short film OOZE as his graduation project.

We follow the events of a lift, that is, a boy in charge of lifts. One of those jobs that lead to permanent contact with people, but at the same time make it almost invisible, exactly with the short. Anyone who gets into the elevator doesn’t mind the little protagonist, who, let’s face it, vaguely remembers the strange character of Eamonn O’Neill’s I’m Fine Thanks.

The movement of the elevator that goes up and down all day is subtly compared to the mood swings that can occur when you go from feeling good to feeling sick.

OOZE is a disturbing journey to the lift that leads the little one to discover hidden and macabre sides of himself. The result is made even more creepy by the style chosen by Kilian and the exclusive use of black and white.

The Breaking Bad film signed by Vince Gilligan is in production

The Breaking Bad film signed by Vince Gilligan is in production

Giulia Guido · 3 years ago · Art

The news is from a few hours ago, Walter White and Jesse Pinkman could return in a Breaking Bad movie. Some sources say that Vince Gilligan is just working on a two-hour film about the events of the tv series that made the world crazy.

Informations are still few, we don’t know which characters we’ll see on the big screen and it’s not yet clear if it’s a sequel or a spin-off. It could also be a prequel, which the director and screenwriter is no stranger to considering the success of Better Call Saul, the series about Saul Goodman, the lawyer to whom Walter White addresses in Breaking Bad.

There were, however, some rumors about the title. The two-hour film could be called Greenbrier and the New Mexico Film Office has confirmed that a project titled this way will be shot starting this month in the New Mexico area.

Although there are few certainties, I wouldn’t hesitate to do a review of the series.

Go to Bed, the new mural by Kitt Bennett

Go to Bed, the new mural by Kitt Bennett

Giulia Guido · 3 years ago · Art

Almost every day now, in the streets around the world, there are murals of every kind and shape. Passing by a wall you may come across the latest work of art by street artists and illustrators. This time, however, you will not pass by the mural by Kitt Bennett, but you will step on it. This is Go to Bed, his latest work, made in Victoria, Australia.

The Melbourne artist has combined his knowledge of 2D animation with a drawing made up of thin lines and his passion for comics. The result is a playfully aesthetic illustration in which there are no marked lines or straight lines.

Kitt Bennett could not choose a better title because for Go to Bed he represented a boy lying on the ground. We don’t know if he’s just asleep or if he’s fallen to the ground. What we do know is that the work is great when a whole parking lot, and that if you pass over it by plane you might see it between one building and another.

Elonie Lopes illustrates the sensuality of the female body

Elonie Lopes illustrates the sensuality of the female body

Giulia Guido · 3 years ago · Art

Not so long ago, the measurements of the perfect woman were 90-60-90, but with time and with taste, the canons of beauty have also changed. Brigitte Bardot and Marilyn Monroe have been ousted by physicists such as Jennifer Lopez or Kim Kardashian. The streets were populated by girls proudly showing off their backs, the result of a thousand squats a day, with ever-smaller lives and ever-greater breasts. Fascinated by these changes, the young illustrator and graphic designer Elonie Lopes perfectly represents this new and constantly flaunted feminine sensuality.

Her pop style, which goes perfectly with a more street style, goes best with the chosen subject. Her site and her Instagram profile are, therefore, populated by girls with curves in the right places, fleshy lips and cell phone in hand, ready to capture themselves in provocative poses and unnatural.

The young French illustrator is perfectly in line with the time in which she lives and for her work, she takes inspiration from everything that populates the web and especially Instagram.

“I try to celebrate femininity through illustration and color.”
