Jun Cen and his clean and colorful illustrations

-
Giulia Guido

The illustrations of Jun Cen are striking, clear and full of meaning. He was born in Guangzhou, China, where he attended the Academy of Fine Arts, and after having also attended the Maryland Institute College of Art, he now lives and works in New York.

It can be said that Jun Cen has never had any doubts about his future and he started trying to make his passion his work from a young age, during his years of specialization and study, however, his style has undergone some changes.

With the passing of time the lines and shapes have become clearer and safer and the link between subject and meaning has intensified. What has never changed is a certain cleanliness of the work, Jun Cen’s illustrations are well balanced, they have no disturbing or distracting elements, a choice that manages to bring out what is really important.

This technique has led him to establish collaborations in the editorial field, taking care of the visual part of books and manuals, but above all making illustrations for magazines and newspapers, among which the New York Times, the Washington Post, the New Yorker, the Oxford University Press and many others.

Below you can find a selection of Jun Cen’s works, to find out more go to his website and Instagram profile
