One of the trends that are most influencing the fashion world is certainly workwear. Just think of brands like Warehouse and Kapital for example, or the huge success of Dickies and Carhartt.
The influence and impact of workwear on Japanese fashion is immense, Japan has long been the epicenter of the authentic and artisanal denim scene: natural indigo, narrow-frame selvedge and vintage machinery that faithfully replicate the golden age of workwear.
Junya Watanabe celebrates this love with a capsule collection for Spring/Summer 2020 in collaboration with French company, Le Labourer.

Founded in the early 1950s, the founder Primo Zélanti began selling clothes for agricultural work at fairs and markets in southern Burgundy, this very small company developed rapidly and in 1956 took the name “La Laboureur”. The core was to maintain production in the heart of France and to produce clothes in traditional shapes with quality materials and fabrics. To this day, it has also expanded its production to include construction garments, maintaining its heritage and strong ties with the past through the succession to Primo Zélanti, of his son Jean-Charles, at the head of the family business.

Watanabe and La Labourer’s joint work offers two versions of the classic canvas work jacket, both featuring a pointed collar and three classic front pockets; the first jacket is in white with the logo of the London restaurant St. JOHN on the right side of the chest, while the second is in blue navy with the logo of the Amsterdam Tulip Museum.

The jackets are available on MATCHESFASHION.com for €218.
