Murmure and garbage bags, symbol of the climate crisis

Murmure is the name behind which the names of Paul Ressencourt and Simon Roché, artistic director, and technical director respectively, are hidden. This is an artistic duo whose works of public art denounce the contradictions of contemporary society and shed light on current affairs.

This is how the Garb-age project was born, a project that aims to raise public awareness of the ever-increasing climate crisis. Murmure seems to have decided to do so through an object that, work after work, has become a true symbol of this fight against climate change: the black garbage bag.

The choice of this object led the duo to create exclusively black and white works, bringing out the plastic surface of the bags through plays of light and shadow and playing with chiaroscuro.

In Murmure’s works, from pencil drawings to large murals, these bags literally become anything, taking the shape of a whale, a bird, replacing pigeons or pillows, even ending up covering the faces of two lovers. Like the effects of climate change, ready to overwhelm us all without distinction, Murmure’s garbage bags spare no one.
