Jazz is more than a musical genre, it’s a lifestyle. Its history dates back to around 1915, when it began to become a real mass phenomenon. It grew exponentially until the 1940s, becoming part of the American mainstream culture of the time. Today, given its musical complexity, it can be considered a niche genre (unfortunately) that is often not appreciated by everyone.
In reality it gives satisfactions that you can hardly find in other musical genres, so a listen to the discography of the main jazz exponents is super recommended.
With the passage of time, however, has undergone significant changes and influences and then suffered the fusion with other genres completely different from each other.
For example, have you ever listened to a rap and jazz record? Probably not.
This in a nutshell is what New York-based artist Kassa Overall, drummer, MC and producer, has always done. He has revisited the languages of classic jazz reinterpreting them in a hip-hop key, making unique and special the relationship between these two genres and directing it towards a really wide range of genres ranging from West Coast G-funk to New York underground sounds.

Thanks to this peculiarity he has been acclaimed by international critics thanks to his 3 albums: “Go Get Ice Cream and Listen to Jazz”, “I Think I’m Good” and “Shades of Flu” and he will be the artist who will inaugurate the second part of the Jazz:Re:Found live calendar.
In fact, Thursday, March 24, 2022, starting at 21:00 he will be at the Biko in Milan for the only Italian date of his tour. Tickets here.
This is a perfect opportunity to approach a world so fascinating and delicate.
It could be the right time to fall in love with jazz.
