Kith continues to celebrate its 10th birthday and, along with New Balance, also celebrates the 40th anniversary of one of the Boston-based brand’s most iconic silhouettes, the 990.
Ronnie Fieg, founder of Kith, has reinterpreted four of his favorite colorways from previous collaborations with New Balance to highlight the long history of joint ventures between the two brands.
This collection includes four different generations of 990: v1, v2, v3 and v4 and is the first time Kith has worked on an entire range of NB models.

To present this new colorway, called Cyclades, of the 990v2s that was born taking inspiration from crystal clear ocean water, dusty sand and colorful umbrellas, Kith chose a true basketball legend of all time, Steve Nash (along with his two sons Luca and Ruby) former NBA star and current head coach of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving’s Brooklyn Nets.
An icon of human endurance and one of the most revolutionary players in the history of the game: Canadian, 191 cm by 80 kg, seventeen thousand points, ten thousand assists and MVP of the NBA regular season for two consecutive seasons (2005/2006) playing a basketball of unique expressive freedom, giving the constant impression that he was having the time of his life having such fun going so fast up and down the court and passing the ball divinely.
Like all romantic heroes Nash never won anything, he never even played in an NBA Finals but that is a totally negligible detail. His impact, his legacy, have forever marked the development of the game of contemporary basketball, the one we still watch (these days the NBA Finals are being held, give it a look if you want to see basketball at its highest possible level).
A series of beautiful shots and a wonderful video, taken in his Brooklyn home, introduce us to this new reinterpretation of the 990v2, the Cyclades – which will be released on Friday, June 17 – and give us a very sweet and intimate glimpse of one of the most unique American sportsmen ever.
