Kith celebrates 20 years of The Wire

If you call yourself a TV series fan and have never seen The Wire, then you need to rethink your priorities. The Wire is an American masterpiece that is the child of the pen of David Simon – journalist and writer – for HBO along with Ed Burns (a former homicide detective), a TV series bordering on perfection from both a narrative and emotional standpoint.

A detective story set in Baltimore that depicts American society and its relationship to drug-related crime in a harsh, ruthless, almost empirical way. Poverty, education, institutions, mass media, and the death of the American working class are portrayed in a frank, critical manner, and a pessimistic picture of the United States emerges through a deep exploration of social, political, and urban American life issues. 

One of the best TV series of all time according to critics, The Wire just turned 20 years old since its first episode aired on HBO on June 2, 2002, and Kith decided to celebrate it in the way he knows best.

A capsule collection consisting of clothing and accessories that highlights the iconic TV Series by reimagining the most beloved and decisive moments from the 5 seasons of The Wire.
The palette reflects the mood of the series: black, white and sand color dominate the collection with graphics of some of the most acclaimed scenes from the series.
A series of Kith’s Vintage Tees made from cotton jersey for a look with a vintage aesthetic. The crewnecks and hoodies are made of cotton fleece with Kith & The Wire branding on the front and back. The collection is completed by accessories including two embroidered cotton-twill caps and a bucket hat as well as an ashtray with Marlo Stanfield’s infamous “My Name is My Name” quote.

“The show has served as a staple in my life since I first saw it. Even in my earliest conversations with HBO, I always asked about The Wire. June 2022 marks the 20th anniversary of the series, so we’ve been waiting until now to create something very special. I’ve been working on a collection for this moment for almost two years now”, these are the words Kith Ronnie Fieg used to talk about his relationship with The Wire and the development of the collection.

To present the collection, Kith created a campaign starring actor Jamie Hector, who in The Wire reopens the very role of Marlo Stanfield.
