In one of the most creative ideas of the season, Formula 1 turned the traditional drivers’ parade into a full-on LEGO show: for the Miami Grand Prix, all 20 drivers took a lap aboard 1:1 scale LEGO replicas of their race cars.
Built with nearly 400,000 bricks each, the cars faithfully reproduce the colors, liveries, and sponsors of the original team vehicles. Fully electric and equipped with authentic Pirelli tires, they can reach speeds of up to 20 km/h — just enough to cruise through the 5.4 km Miami Gardens circuit.

The initiative is part of a multi-year partnership between Formula 1 and the iconic brick brand, announced last September. “Through play and building, we want to bring fans even closer to the spectacle of F1,” said Julia Goldin, Chief Product & Marketing Officer of the LEGO Group.

Inspired by the LEGO Speed Champions line, the cars were designed and assembled by a team of 26 designers and engineers at LEGO’s Kladno facility in the Czech Republic. But they weren’t just for display: Lewis Hamilton called it «the most fun drivers’ parade ever,» Max Verstappen joked about LEGO bricks left on the track, and George Russell even asked if they could be used as bumper cars. A perfect crossover between pop culture and racing adrenaline. Once again, F1 proves it knows exactly how to play its cards right.
