CURREN: The New Arrival at Vans

Vans is back with a project that blends aesthetics, performance, and irony. The California-based brand introduces CURREN, the first skate shoe endorsed by Curren Caplesa contemporary skater and style icon who grew up between halfpipes and the sunshine of the West Coast. The result? A minimalist, durable, and functional silhouette that takes vulcanization to a new level. SICKSTICK™, DURACAP™, and POPCUSH™ aren’t just technical terms—they’re the foundation of a shoe designed for those who truly live skateboarding.

But perhaps the most interesting part of the Vans Curren launch is the campaign: a sophisticated parody of perfume ads, featuring theatrical poses and retro touches. Behind the camera is Gray Sorrenti, with direction by Grant Yansura, and appearances by legends like Ray Barbee, Geoff Rowley, and Steve Van Doren. A perfect mix of irony, style, and “Off The Wall” attitude.

The CURREN shoes will be available in red and gray/yellow starting May 15 on Vans.com, in flagship stores, and at select skate shops. The all-black “VCU” version was released early on May 1. In short, this is already a cult shoe—and thanks to a standout campaign, it’s already on the wishlist of many sneaker and skateboarding enthusiasts.
