Les Pitres are proof that glass and brass can coexist in a perfect way. This is a very special collection of glasses, bowls, and glovebox created from the collaboration between the designer Hellèn Gaulier, the International Glass Art Center Meisenthal and the French publisher Bernard Chauveau.
This project involved glass artisans and designers with the aim of inserting brass pieces into glass artifacts. It started in 2015 and ended a few months ago. In this period of three years, the artisans have had the opportunity to develop various technical processes, from the production of the molds to the blowing of the glass, to the assembly.
The challenge was to overcome the apparent incompatibility of glass with brass. In addition to being able to achieve the set goal, they have also managed to create real masterpieces of industrial design.
Les Pitres will be presented in the Off section of the Paris Design Week from 5 to 9 September.
