Illustrator Malen Pazos is originally from a small coastal town in the Basque Country. Her maritime origins have a great influence on her artistic inspiration, which is largely derived from the sea and its colours. Malen’s creative process is spontaneous and fluid through the use of Procrate. In an interview on Don Fisher, she said that she likes to start projects without a set plan, but lets ideas flow naturally. Malen often draws inspiration from other creatives and likes to revise her old sketches, giving them new life or refining unfinished pieces.

Whether or not a work conveys a specific message, Malen Pazos finds joy in seeing how people interpret his work in different ways. Her subjects are always super-tattooed and happy. Portrayed while eating a bowl of fresh food, enjoying an aperitif or while shopping. Indeed, food is a constant, which inevitably coincides with a sense of well-being and happiness that inspires the eyes of the beholder.
