The first time actress Chloë Sevigny came in touch with Marc Jacobs was in 1992.
At the time, the New York-based designer let Sonic Youth record Sugar Kane video inside his showroom. One of the protagonists of that video was Sevigny herself – actress and one of the main characters of the generational film Kids, directed by Larry Clark and scripted by Harmony Korine. From that moment on, a strong and lasting relationship was established between the actress and the designer.
Thirty years later, Chloë Sevigny returns to Jacobs’ offices for the irreverent campaign of the Resort 2021 collection. Shot by photographer Haley Wollens, the campaign plays with the aesthetic stereotypes of the classic fashion editorials of our times, taking itself very little seriously, between poses and expressions that mimic the great campaigns.
The actress, model and stylist jokes in the offices of Marc Jacobs. With a serious look she plays with the elements of a fashion under construction, between stacked shoe boxes and disassembled mannequins. Between a disassembled arm and a pair of legs, Sevigny looks ironically at the codes of fashion. Even the designer’s desk, at the center of the room like an altar of creativity to be respected, is invaded by the presence of the actress, who climbs with her heels on the worktop.
