Can you still be romantic today? New York based photographer Molly Matalon wants to redefine the concept of romance through her images. If you are thinking that the word romance is exclusively linked to the love sphere, to something melancholy and boring, you are definitely off the road: being romantic is a natural predisposition, like being left-handed, an attitude and maybe even a need.

What Molly does is research, caress objects and people without distinction, presenting attention to the line, color, and shape. Her favorite themes are nature, femininity and, as she recently stated:

“I’ve been thinking about romance in the classical sense and in the contemporary sense. The photographs suggest romance in a sort-of
fantasy world.”

And this is how we speak of poetics, of a language that, through style, light, and sensations, reaches the true essence of things, whether they are objects, flowers or people, and drags them into a fantastic dimension.
