The art of Olivier Bonhomme

-

Oliver Bonhomme is a 360° artist. He is best known for his illustrations, but his work as artistic director, especially of the Studio BK he founded himself and with which he deals with every artistic expression, from video mapping to light shows, up to the care of staging for theatrical performances, is no less.

But what we want to focus on is the illustrator Oliver Bonhomme. His is a conspicuous portfolio, in which we can notice recurring and always present elements since his first works as much as new experimentations.

Just after graduating from Hercules Emile Cohl in Lyon in 2010, he began working with Le Monde and the Washington Post, developing the ability to portray reality in an original way. His conceptual illustrations are adapted to any topic, from politics to economics, from social issues to news stories.

Only later did he approach the world of comics with the help of Joseph Safieddine, creating his first book, L’Homme Sans Rêve.

From here on there are no more limits, for Oliver Bonhomme it seems that everything can be illustrated, reality like travel, the city like landscapes, emotions like fears. Even the technique is never the same, sometimes we are faced with digital illustrations, others mix digital with a handmade part, others reveal a masterful use of pencils and watercolors.

What never changes is his style, recognizable among a thousand, that in a completely extraordinary way manages to combine in a single image surreal scenarios, pop cut, and exasperated colors and shapes.
