“Es un sentimiento nuevo che mi tiene alta la vita”, sang Franco Battiato in 1981 and it is precisely from that Sentimento Nuevo that the Ortigia Sound System Festival 2019 takes its cue.
The next edition, which will be held from 24 to 28 July, develops around the theme of the relationship between technology and humanity, focusing on man and feelings, always aligned with the unstoppable technological evolution.
Within the characteristic and wonderful setting of the Island of Ortigia, for five days the notes of eleven highly anticipated national and international guests will ring out.
Giorgio Moroder, a pioneer of electronic music, who still plays a leading role in the musical field, will be the master of the event. Representing the British label Hessle Audio will not be one, but three artists will perform for the OSS19, namely Ben UFO, Pearson Sound and Pangaea. It continues with the Texan band Neon Indian, followed by Ross from Friends, a project that sees the producer Felix Clary Weathrall flanked by sax and electric guitar (John Dunk and Jed Hampson).
The collective DIY KOKOKO! from Congo will also perform, bringing a performance that combines music and dance. Then we will see Emmanuelle, author of the soundtrack of the same Ortigia Sound System Festival, perform live.
There will also be the opportunity to celebrate 10 years of Slow Motion, the Italian-Berlin label that brings Italian dance music to the world and certainly there will be time to go wild.
We will go from the dj sets of Italian Elena Colombi to those of Object Blue, to the music of Lamusa II, ending with Alessandro Adriani and his synth wave and industrial sounds.
In addition, this sixth edition of the Festival will see the arrival on the Sicilian island of Boiler Room, the digital broadcasting platform that over the years has worked on the organization of musical events with the aim of spreading genres such as electronics, but also grime, hip-hop, jazz, and classical music. Thus, at the Ortigia Sound System Festival, Boiler Room will bring on stage Italian artists such as Lino Capra Vaccina and Lamusa II, but also international artists such as the London DJ and illustrator Danielle and the eclectic vision of the British artist Call Super, ending with the music of the duo Jerusalem in my Heart that comes from the encounter between the Arab world and modern electronics.
The music will also be accompanied by art thanks to the abstract works of Domenico Romeo who will perform in a live performance.
