Kevin Abstract – Baby Boy

Brockhampton frontman Kevin Abstract dropped his new EP called Ghettobaby one week after the latest ARIZONA Baby EP. Along with his new Ep, Kevin also released the track Baby Boy, accompanied by a self-directed in which if you think you see double, it’s not because of diplopia.

Lizzo – Juice (feat. RuPaul’s Drag Race Queens)

Lizzo has shared a second video for her hit Juice where the artist is joined by several stars of RuPaul’s Drag Race, just to remind us in a fruity mood that her album Cuz I Love You is out today.

Billie Eilish – you should see me in a crown

Creepy is beautiful. In the animated video for Eilish’s you should see me in a crown directed by Takashi Murakami, Billie is a digital manga who turns soon into the ugliest spider you can ever see.

Kevin Morby – OMG Rock ‘n’ Roll

Kevin Morby, we’re waiting for you.

DOLA – Non esco

After you met Dola, you just have to run after him on a skateboard while he races out toward the success.

maggio – Piano Rialzato

Survival manual for those who are terrible at good-byes.

Flying Lotus – Fire Is Coming (David Lynch)

Flying Lotus has finally announced his new full-length after five years: Flamagra is out 5/24 and its features list includes Anderson .Paak, Denzel Curry, Little Dragon, Tierra Whack and many others. Fire Is Coming is the lead single accompanied by a scary video featuring David Lynch.

KOTA The Friend – Birdie

Pity that this song is too short to enjoy it in the sun until the weekend.

Kelsey Lou – Blood

This intense live as the purple red of the Colors studios serves you to reactivate the circulation and to remind you that Kelsey Lu’s debut album is out today.

Leven Kali – Do U Wrong feat. Syd

If you have planned a trip for Easter holiday we have the soundtrack for the first 5 minutes of your road trip.
Arms out the window. Let’s go.

Lizzo – Cuz I Love You

Some time ago, in a piece dedicated to Missy Elliott, we were talking about how much Misdemeanor had been an important piece in the history of rap, both for her artistic merits and for the fact that she had abolished, as a woman, a series of genre taboos, through the free expression of the body.
It’s no coincidence, I think, that Missy Elliott is present in Lizzo’s album that, in some way, continues her speech, literally stripping herself bare in her first full-length for a label.
In Cuz I Love You, music is just a means to undress, song by song, and assert self-confidence.
The eleven tracks don’t stand out for their excellent productions but surprise us in terms of the vocal – very powerful – and an incendiary rap that Lizzo fits even in the most classic of soulful melodies.

2
Loyle Carner – Not Waving But Drowning

Loyle Carner is one who is not afraid to tell you about that time that the waves were so high that she thought she would drown. So in this record comes out all the fragility of a sensitive artist who, with his soft and relaxed voice, goes deep into the emotional details of his personal life.
In the tracklist you can read the names of Jordan Rakei, Sampha and Jorja Smith who swim with him in this sea of emotions and existential dramas, providing him and almost providing us with a life jacket to avoid the risk of being swept away and drowned in it.
Here, listen to him as if he were a manual for learning to swim.

3
Kelsey Lu – Blood

The album opens with a declaration of non-love which is then a cover, in more or less gospel version, of I’m Not In Love by 10cc.
Despite this, Kelsey Lu’s Blood is a record that makes us fall in love right from that first track.
A debut, that of the singer-songwriter from North Carolina, that fully absorbs us, hypnotizing us track after track with that mixture of baroque pop, folk, ambient and, last but not least, classical music.
Among the producers, Skrillex, Jamie xx and Rodaidh McDonald that contribute to give the album a dark, experimental and sophisticated imprint.
Blood is an album in which you can hear all the influences of the artists with whom Lu has collaborated, from Solange to Florence + The Machine, reworked in a completely new and authentic proposal in which deep lyrics and evocative melodies stand out.

FKA twigs – Cellophane

FKA twigs is back with a new breathtaking track called Cellophane, accompanied by a clip directed by Andrew Thomas Huang (Björk’s collaborator) in which twigs shows everything she has learned in the art of pole dancing, moving sinuously in front of her monsters.
She climbs on that pole like an ivy while we hang on to that thread of her voice, so delicate and vulnerable that it seems to be about to break and instead is as thin and resistant as a cellophane film and keeps us for the whole song wrapped into a dense cloud of synths, strings and wonder.

Cuco – Hydrocodone

Hydrocodone is a music video dedicated to the memory of our past and future selves. It’s an abstract journey through a young man’s memories before and after a big accident“.

Hey Cuco, you’ll be fine.

Kevin Abstract – Peach

Kevin Abstract is on fire. After he released two EPs and two videos in two weeks, he also drops a new clip for the track Peach that features contributions from two other Brockhampton members, Bearface and Joba, both of them singing in falsetto and enjoying life in LA with Kevin.

Loyle Carner – Angel ft. Tom Misch

Loyle Carner and Tom Misch are together on a Portuguese adventure, eating pasta and cycling like Elio and Oliver in Call Me By Your Name. Definitely the best match in music.

Divino Niño – Maria

The Chicago’s band dropped a dreamy single Maria ahead of its upcoming record Foam, due out June 21. The clip is inspired by the Mexican telenovelas and we just can’t stop watching.

Jackie Cohen – Chico Chico

Dancing in a supermarket parking lot has never been so fun.

SIRUP – Pool

I still don’t know very well who, how and why but he is SIRUP and his first album Feel Good is out on May 29th. Now don’t ask yourself too many questions and push play above.

Goldwash – You Don’t Wanna Feed the Fire Anymore

Dedicated to all fans of dreamy melodies, lo-fi sounds and Mac DeMarco. He is Goldwash and will soon be a star.

IAMDDB – Urban Jazz

From the hotel, to the soundcheck, to the backstage, to the live. In this video put up in 24 hours you can follow IAMDDB in every move before a concert, through a series of scenes mainly in black and white with which the artist declares she wants to express “the vulnerability it takes to make timeless music“.

Mark Ronson – Late Night Feelings ft. Lykke Li

Did anyone say Friday?

“For the Throne”, listen to the album inspired by Game of Thrones

“For the Throne”, listen to the album inspired by Game of Thrones

Giulia Guido · 8 months ago · Music

From the collaboration between HBO and Columbia Records was born For the Throne (Music Inspired by the HBO Series Game of Thrones), an album composed of 14 tracks, signed by 14 different artists who were inspired by the events of the TV series par excellence, Game of Thrones.

The songs, in addition to commenting on the series in a very personal way, combine different musical styles, from pop to rap, from indie to folk. So we read names like Travis Scott, A$AP Rocky, Lil Peep, but also James Arthur, Lennon Stella and The Lumineers. Don’t miss Florence + the Machine who signed the song Jenny of Oldstones that in the second episode of the last season is sung by Podrick.

Waiting for the last three episodes of the eighth season of Game of Thrones and our analysis of the third episode, “Battle of Winterfell“, aired last night, I recommend you to wear headphones and let yourself be carried by the music of For the Throne up to Westeros.

Gus Dapperton – My Favorite Fish

Here is Gus Dapperton with a hairstyle that would even envy the Nick Carter of the 90s. By the way he always looks great and now that he has released the new album Where Polly People Go to Read, as far as I’m concerned, he can do anything.

Kindness – Lost Without (feat. Seinabo Sey)

The song has all the credentials to make us fall in love: it was co-written with Kelela and features vocals from Seinabo Sey, so Lost Without sounds like a warm R&B track which features a disco-inflected bassline.
In the video for the track we are aboard a train watching out the window some big gray buildings but they still seem very colorful to us.

Leven Kali – Mad At U

Who didn’t immediately want to go to the beach?

Jelani Arieh – Union Station

Jelani is nineteen years old, comes from San Diego and is part of the Raised by The Internet collective which takes its inspiration from the more famous BROCKHAMPTON. The video takes up the relaxed atmosphere of the song and represents “the start of a journey into the unknown. Leaving our place of security to chase our dreams and follow art. I hope the song inspires people to follow their hearts“.

Girl Ultra – DameLove (feat. Cuco)

It’s not Friday if Cuco isn’t here.
In DameLove‘s video of the Mexican R&B singer Girl Ultra, we see him driving a big car and taking her around the desert. There’s a romantic tension in this sensuous road trip and that languid song which melts us like a Liuk in the sun is complicit.

Sidney Gish – Sin Triangle

Sidney is a young songwriter from Boston who released her album No Dogs Allowed early last year. One of its many highlights is a track called Sin Triangle that now also has a video in which Sidney wants to tell us essentially that “two faced bitches never lie” between funny animations and pages of a holy book.

BK Andersen – Sinking Canoe

Ok, the video is not great but the track deserves a listen. He will remind you a little bit of Tom Misch or Puma Blue even if he does not yet have their fame. And it’s just a matter of time.

Patience – Living Things Don’t Last

Dizzy Spells, Patience’s debut album, is out today and in the video for Living Things Don’t Last we seem to rollerskating with her even though we sit in our chair.

Mac DeMarco – All of Our Yesterdays (live at Tonight Show)

Here Comes The Cowboy, is out next week. On The Tonight Show Mac gave a typically lazy performance, bouncing around the stage to the rhythm of his nostalgic track All of Our Yesterdays.

Iggy Azalea – Started

The trash we need to start the weekend.
