The sensory and intentional design of ÓST candles

ÓST candles are objects made to accompany intimate, quiet moments, and they tell a story of design that goes beyond function and moves toward sensoriality. The brand, founded in Vitória, Brazil by Laila and Jana, works along a subtle line: turning an everyday element into a mindful presence, able to shape space through form, light, and sensory perception.

ÓST’s identity was built by Estúdio Capim, which followed the project in every dimension: from naming to strategy, from visual identity to product design, all the way to packaging, signage, and digital applications. A coherent, 360-degree effort that doesn’t simply “dress” the product, but amplifies its meaning.

ÓST collections are produced in limited editions and crafted with high-quality materials and finishes—an element that highlights the almost artisanal attention devoted to every detail. The candle is treated as a functional sculpture: the design is essential but never cold, conceived to have an aesthetic presence even when unlit, and a sensory impact when it comes to life. Shape, color, scent, and packaging work together, without forced hierarchies.

The project’s innovation lies precisely here: in giving the candle an autonomous language, far from both the most predictable decorative aesthetics and anonymous minimalism. ÓST thus builds a recognizable imaginary, where brand and product are inseparable and reinforce one another. It’s not an object that blends into its surroundings, but one that interprets them, adding a layer of atmosphere and intention.
