Philippe Starck is the mastermind behind the incredible interior design project of the Axiom space housing module, designed for space tourism: in fact, it is a privately owned space exploration society that has decided to take tourists on expeditions to the space station in 2020.
A space station is ruled by a fundamental law: zero gravity, unlike terrestrial life constraints, life in space is a multi-directional freedom. My vision is to create a comfortable egg, friendly, where walls are so soft and in harmony with the values of movements of the human body in zero gravity.
The idea behind his work was to create a nest-space: the walls of the housing module are dotted with hundreds of nano-LEDs that change color depending on the mood and biorhythm of its inhabitant. The habitation module becomes a comfortable place of freedom, which at the same time gives a sense of protection and it has been defined like a sort of spatial “fetus” by the Starck itself.
