For the opening of the new Fivefourfive store at Via Fiori Chiari 24, curated by STUDIO MUSA, designer Luca Ricci presented Plissè Block, a sofa conceived as the visual and conceptual centerpiece of the space. The sofa is built around an essential modular composition, but it is through its materials that it expresses its identity: the glass, worked and layered, is not just a structure, but reflects, filters, and distorts its surroundings, turning the sofa into a dynamic presence that constantly changes according to the light and point of view.

This visual rigidity is contrasted by the softness of the velvet cushions, which introduce a more intimate and welcoming dimension. The dialogue between these two components—transparency and density, coldness and comfort—creates a balance that makes the object immediately recognizable. Much like what happened with Shablo’s console at Sanremo last year.

The reference to a modernist imaginary can be perceived in the proportions and structure, but it is reworked through a contemporary language, where material research takes precedence over pure form. The name Plissè Block suggests precisely this tension: a reference to folds and rhythm, translated here into a surface that vibrates and transforms. It is not just a sofa, but an element that redefines the space, capable of turning the environment into a constantly evolving visual experience.
