After a development phase that lasted almost ten years, at last Prague’s riverside has a new design that blends a contemporary style with the existing architecture. The project is by the Brainwork studio and its founder Petr Janda who thought to give new life to an entire area of the right bank of Moldova, the river that splits the Czech Republic capital in two, precisely at the point where the so-called Dancing House overlooks. 

The architects have rebuilt the wall along the river, which has 20 vaults, with as many niches, used in antiquity as rooms for storing ice. 

Petr Janda and his team played with the shape of the openings, which have all been transformed into glass doors, allowing them to take advantage of natural light and always have a unique view of the river. 

Inside, the rooms, more or less large, have a more modern and minimalist style, which does not, however, distort the spaces. Today, inside each time we can find a different activity, from bars like the LAb, to pubs, from laboratories to galleries, and why not, even a library.  

The Brainwork studio has succeeded in relaunching an area that enjoys a privileged location but was unfortunately abandoned due to the flood of 2002, demonstrating how modern architecture and historic buildings can coexist perfectly.
