When the world changes there is always some artist ready to witness or represent this change through his art. At the beginning of the twentieth century, it was Boccioni with works such as The City Rises or Elasticity who immortalized this transformation, today, the ADP Group (Aéroports de Paris) has invested the Italian artist Ray Oranges with this task.

Ray, born in Calabria, creates works composed by a few elements, made with skillful use of colors and shadows, which are able to tell complex and interesting stories.

For this particular work, he was asked to create an almost monumental installation, intended to cover the entire facade of the South Terminal of Paris-Orly airport until 2021. The artwork, entitled Paris-Orly Change, covers an area of 3200 square meters and bears witness to the ambitious process of modernization that is taking place at the airport, which is second only to Charles De Gaulle airport in terms of importance and flow of people.

For the creation of the artwork, Ray started with a pencil sketch, then finished the composition digitally and the result was printed on micro-perforated vinyl. In the artist’s words, the installation represents:

“the complexity of the relationship between Paris and its airport, the fascination of travel and Groupe ADP’s vision of the future of air transport.”
